Flower Face

Shed a petal

And you blush

Extend a stem

Return a touch

You can’t see the roots

But they matter

The original reason

Among many

That your colors flatter so

In the periphery

A half-lit family of perrenials

Worships a novelty moon

And in the time between rains

Prefers silence

Where others want music

How far can you stretch your leaves

Before a neighbor

(Who can’t)

Wants to leave?
